::My paper was selected for a conference in Istanbul, Turkey. When I applied for Visa with more than two weeks before the conference, I was told that the process for the visa application takes one month for people belonging to country of my citizenship. Unfortunately, there was no other option mentioned to me. The officer cut my phone. I was given no other option. The ticket and accommodation was sponsored by a university in Turkey and this slow process hurt their finances more than mine. Academic conferences usually do not give all supporting documents one month before the conference. So, there shall be some way to support academics rather than making them helpless at the end of the day which also damages the conference, finances and is not a win-win situation for anybody, especially if the sponsors spending money on our accommodation and tickets are local authorities in Turkey.
