Great location, old school ambience, good service. Easy to get cabs and plenty of food options nearby...

There can't be no 2 opinions on this hotel. The rooms, bathrooms, the entire interior is in bad condition. In terms of cleanliness, i can just assume nobody is ever cleaning here. The floor is dusty, stains cover almost everything from sheets to bathroom tiles. There is no relation of price and service.

Been travelling in Asia for 5 months, with a new hotel on average every four days, and this was the worst hotel I've stayed at. I walked in and the room strongly smelled of mold, so I tried to open the windows but the latches were broken. I fashioned a tool out of bobby pins and after ten minutes finally got them open. The sills were covered in pigeon poop, real healthy air quality... The room had not been cleaned in quite some time; the bath mat was covered in clumps of dust, there were strands of long thick black hair everywhere, the sheets had yellow stains on them with food stuck to it, and the window blinds were so dusty they could be used as a movie prop. Why didn't I leave? I had a horrible fever and needed to rest. During my two night stay the floor began to ooze light brown liquid up from below, getting on my feet and staining the bed. The room key spontaneously quit working on the second day. There's a TV, but it's not hooked up to anything, and just takes up space. There's a phone, but it's not plugged into anything. You can tell right away, as they lead you to your room, that they don't care to clean anything, as the hallways are literally lined with black, oily fingerprints, mentioned in another user review. It's not all bad, but I'm not even going to bother mentioning the positives because the cleanliness was such a deal breaker. I couldn't stomach giving this hotel any more money and I left to find a new one. The new one has such better food, it's cheaper, infinitely cleaner, has more facilities, the TV works, the phone works, it has a lock box, a luggage rack, it's bigger and the window opens right up, the AC is colder, etc.... NAK hotel desperately needs a renovation, or at least a guy with a sponge and bucket of hot water, not a new bellhop or whatever they 'hiring' sign out front says. It was hilarious to see they had a guy opening doors and pushing lift buttons for people, while the room itself is a stye. There must be good rooms in this place as why else anyone would leave a positive review I don't know!

Love the antique hotel design. Spacious rooms and clean. It also has a roof top bar & cafe both serve breakfast and dinner. Breathtaking view. It's "the place" to stay when in sandakan town. Affordable price and staff are efficient and friendly. Loving it.
